here is a plain, boring list of the kayak trips i've taken this year... enjoy!
- 1.1.11: Alki > Blake Island <
- 1.9.11: Harbor Island circumnavigation (from Don Armeni)
- 1.15.11: Salisbury Park > Hood Head (into the lagoon, portage over the spit, around the north end of HH) < back along the Hood Canal Bridge
- 1.22.11: Bellingham > Marine Park > Chuckanut Island <
- 1.28.11: MAUI! Makena Landing > Molokini Crater > Big Beach > Makena Landing
- 1.29.11: MAUI! Makena Landing > Ahihi Cove <
- 1.30.11: MAUI! Hana Bay (short paddle, since the waves outside of the bay were gnarly)
- 1.31.11: MAUI! North Kihei > Maalaea Bay [SAW HUMPBACK WHALES! but tried to fight the trade winds for a couple hours, then gave up--sigh] > South Kihei (had to hop a taxi cab to cheat on the way back to the rental car. better than death tho'... sorta]
- [have been sick all of february so far, so no paddling for a while... sigh]
- 3.5.11: West Seattle: Richey Viewpoint > Lincoln Park
- 3.6.11: Burien: Seahurst Park > south
- 3.12.11: [can't recall where i paddled that day - prolly along Alki]
- 3.17.11: West Seattle - this year's first post-work paddle along Alki - nice full-ish moon (couple days before the "super moon")
- 3.20.11: Samish Bay: Wildcat Cove at Larrabee SP south-ish. got clobbered by the wind all the way back (sigh)
- 3.22.11: West Seattle - another post-work paddle along Alki
- 3.26.11: West Seattle - Alki to Don Armeni
- 3.27.11: Ballard/Magnolia - Golden Gardens > West Point lighthouse at Discovery Park (fun double rainbow along the Shilshole Marina breakwater)
- 4.2.11: Alki > Blake Island circumnavigation (woot!)
- 4.8.11: West Seattle - Richey Viewpoint to Lowman Beach (post-work, yo)
- 4.11.11: West Seattle - post-work paddle along Alki
- [gonna have to fill in the blanks later - was very busy with freelancery, but i know i got a few trips in]
- 5.8.11: Alki > Blake Island circumnav (darn near had the island to myself; annoying wait for cargo ships on the way home... *sigh*)
- 5.10.11: Alki > Lincoln Park
- 5.14.11: San Juan Island: Smallpox Bay > about a mile past Lime Kiln (saw an orca! from quite a ways-away tho' - it was chillin' by some whale watching boats)
- 5.15.11: San Juan Island: Roche Harbor > English Camp > Henry Island circumnavigation
- 5.17.11: Alki
- 5.18.11: Alki > Lincoln Park <
- 5.20.11: Alki > Seacrest Park
- 5.22.11: Blaine: Drayton Harbor > up Dakota Creek < saw a few eagles + heron
- 6.6.11: KAUAI! Wailua River (kayak & hike)
- 6.7.11: hiked the east trail of the Sleeping Giant; kayaked the Huleia River
- 6.8.11: paddled the Kealia Stream in the morning
- 6.8.11: paddled the Kahiliwai Stream in the afternoon
- 6.9.11: paddled the Napali Coast (with Napali Kayak Tours)
- 6.11-12:11: hiked the Kalalau Trail & camped at Hanakoa (slipped & landed on a rock on the way back - my right leg is still angry with me...)
- 6.14.11: paddled on the Hanalei River - with mom! was her first time in a kayak... good times. hit the river by myself again & paddled out to the bay. came back & bought some fish to grill for dinner... went out a third time & paddled as far up the river as possible (until the current felt around 5 knots!)
- 6.15.11: paddled the Kilauea Stream
- 6.17.11: hiked the Pihea Trail - Alakai Swamp Trail (out to the viewpoint)
- 6.18.11: coastal hike - the Mahaulepu Trail
- 6.19.11: coastal walk along the Coconut Coast (leg started hurting today)
- 6.25.11: Alki > Lincoln Park <
- 6.26.11: Alki > Blake Island circumnavigation <
- 7.3.11: Dungeness: Cline Spit along the shoreline to the base of the Dungess Spit, then along there thru the wildlife refuge area
- 7.4.11: Sequim Bay: state park up to the lagoon (fought crazy tidal-ness on the way back)
- 7.10.11: [whale watching trip with the fam]
- 7.16.11: Alki

- 8.20.11: roche harbor on san juan island up to stuart island to camp
- 8.21.11: circumnav around stuart island & back to roche harbor
- 8.22.11: 3 years... *sigh*
- 8.23.11: post-work sunset paddle along Alki
- 8.27.11: alki down to lincoln park
- 9.3.11: spencer spit on lopez island to james island; then down around the south end of decatur back to s-spit
- 9.4.11: fisherman bay on lopez with my nephew, Ryan
- 9.6.11: post-work sunset paddle along Alki
- 9.7.11: ditto!
- 9.8.11: ditto!!
- 9.10.11: alki down to lincoln park - purty sunset on the way back
- 9.11.11: alki over to blake island - circumnav of blake <-back

- 10.3.11: ventura harbor [full loop around the harbor + keys]
- 10.8.11: don armeni to kellogg island
- 10.16.11: alki (richey viewpoint to duwamish head)

- 11.5.11: alki > blake island circumnav < back
- 11.13.11: playing in the wind waves along alki... then fighting my way back >:O)

as with all my yaklogs, this page is in memory of Chip Stewart. we had planned to paddle thru the Washington Park Arboretum just after his 48th birthday, but things didn't work out. *sniff sniff*
